BACK on TRACK! PBFantasy addiction!

So, after months of being quiet in this blog, I now have the chance to post blog again! Exactly 5 days before my big day, i would like to tackle my PBFantasy addiction. In reality, I am a basketball fanatic yet basketball hates me. I know how to play the game, I can shoot the ball, bang bodies with players and defend star players, but I am not good at it. I love basketball so much that I coach our block team because I know that I can help through it. I play several minutes. ranging from 5-7 minutes per game depending on the stat of the game. I also like to criticize players because I can easily see what a player need to do. I can talk but I can't apply it myself (chuckles!) though I can play. Now I would like to tackle about PBFantasy.

Me and my classmates made a league. We are 10 in the league and now I rank 3rd among others. We are all ready in week 9. PBFantasy is different from NBA Fantasy. Different RUles! different game play.

These are my players for this week!

Paul Artadi, Bonbon Custodio, Junjun Cabatu, Arwind Santos, and Ranidel de Ocampo.

I chose them first of all because they have the most number of games for this week. But PBFantasy has a rule about trade restrictions. Just read on the link to fully understand it.

I chose Artadi and Bonbon because they are hot this week. They are averaging 20-30 fantasy points a game. But I will definitely gave off Artadi after this week. I am just "strategizing" to get the lead this week so I'll have supremacy for the next week. Definitely I'll drop also Cabatu for he is just good for this week. I may retain one between Arwind and Ranidel. I can't drop Bonbon because I'll still need him until I made enough money and buy a bigger player compared to him.

This coming Saturday will be the next week so I need to "strategize". By this time I am still planning our Christmas party. i just dropped by because i Definitely miss blogging! Til Next Time!

12-4 OPEN-COLLECTOR TTL

An open-collector TTL logic gate has an output stage which consists of a single transistor with its collector terminal unconnected. [See Figure 12-8(a).] The complete gate circuit is similar to that in Figure 12-7, with components Q3, R4, and D4 omitted. An external pull-up resistor Rc must be included, as illustrated in Figure 12-8(a), to provide a path for the transistor collector current.

Figure 12-8 Open-collector TTL gates have transistors with open-circuited collector terminals as their output stages. This permits gate output terminals to be connected together to function as an AND gate.

Figure 12-8(b) shows that a single collector resistor can serve the outputs of several open-collector gates. The gate outputs are connected together in an arrangement termed wired-AND configuration. Because each gate has an open-collector output, it is not loaded by the other gates. (This would not be the case with totem pole output stages.) If the output of any one gate is low, the wired-AND output is low. The wired-AND output is high only when a high level is present at terminal A and at terminal B and at terminal C. [See Figure 12-8(b).] It is seen that this wiring arrangement functions as an AND gate, hence the name wired-AND arrangement available with open-collector TTL is that it can be substituted in place of a logic gate. Consider the digital comparator circuit in Figure 11-19. The AND gate can be eliminated if open-collector TTL XNOR gates are available.

12-5 TRI-STATE TTL (TSL)

A tri-state TTL (or TSL) logic gate has a control input as well as the usual input and output terminals. Figure 12-9 shows the circuit arrangement and logic symbol for a TSL NAND gate. Note that the control input terminal goes to an inverter. The output of the inverter is connected to one emitter on transistor Q1 and to the base of Q3 via diode D1.

When the control input is low, the inverter output is high. This reverse biases D1 and provides a high input to the connected emitter Q1. In this condition the NAND gate functions normally; when all the gate inputs are high, the output is low; when one or more inputs are low, the output is high.

Figure 12-9 Tri-ste TTL (TSL) circuits have a third output state: in addition to being high or low, the output may be placed in a high-impedance state. This is accomplished by setting transistors Q3 and Q4 in an off condition.

When a high input applied to the control terminal, the inverter output goes low, forward-biasing D1 and the connected emitter of Q1. Now Q1 is held in a low state, regardless of the level of the other gate input terminals. Thus, Q2 and Q4 are off. In addition, the base of Q3 is held in a low state by (forward-biased) diode D1. Consequently, Q3 is off. Both output transistors Q3 and Q4 are off, and the output terminal offers a high impedance to all circuits that are connected to it. This condition is the third state of the TSL circuit: the output of a TSL gate may be high or low, or have a high output impedance.

TSL gates are used in logic systems where the outputs of several gates are connected in parallel to a single input of another circuit. All gates are usually maintained in the high output impedance state and are sampled, or switched on briefly one at a time, by the control signals applied in sequence. This avoids the possibility of the output of one gate short-circuiting another gate output.

Another aspect of the TSL gate is that the circuit input impedance also becomes high when the gate is placed in its high output impedance state.

High-Speed TTL (54H/74H)

The circuit speed is increased by reducing the resistance of the resistors and by including an additional emitter-follower transistor to drive one of the output transistors. (See the H00-H30 circuit diagram in the data sheet.) Because of the reduced resistor values, the supply current is approximately double that for standard TTL, resulting in an average per-gate power dissipation of 22.5 mW. The typical propagation delay time for 54H/74H TTL is 6ns.

Schottky TTL (54S/74S)

This logic family employs Schottky transistors to further increase the circuit switching speed. A Schottky transistor is a bipolar transistor with a Schottky diode connected between its collector and base terminals, as illustrated in Figure 12-10(a). A Schottky diode has a junction of silicon and metal. Like other diodes, it is a one-way device, but its major characteristics are that it switches very fast and that its forward drop is typically 0.25 V. The presence of the Schottky diode prevents the transistor from going into saturation, and consequently the transistor switching speed is minimized.

The Schottky transistor circuit symbol is illustrated in Figure 12-10(b), and an S00-S133 Schotkky TTl NAND gate circuit is shown in the data sheet in Appendix 1-18.

The typical propagation delay time for Schottky TTL is 3ns, and the average power dissipation per gate is around 20mW. An improved version known as advanced Schottky TTL (54/74 AS) boasts a 1.5 ns typical gate delay tie, with 20 mW per gate power dissipation. Obviously, this type of logic circuit should be used where high speed is the most important consideration.

So what is new with the world today?

The 2008 Beijing Olympics ended yesterday. With China winning the Gold Medal tally, the USA team won the total medal tally. China, USA, Russia, Great Britain, and Germany were the top five among the rest. Here is the complete medal tally.

As we all knew, USA Basketball Team redeemed themselves winning both the Men's and Women's Gold Medals. It was expected especially if you have watched the first games of the tourney.

So how about our team? Team Philippines? As expected no medals. Yet, mabuhay ang mga atletang Pinoy! I knew there was something wrong specifically the taekwando match of Mr. Go. Let's just do again our best in the 2012 London Olympics.

Tandaan Filipino at hindi Tagalog. Ano ba ang pinagkaiba? Sa ating panahon ngayon, ang salitang Filipino ay may mga hiniram na salita mula sa salitang Ingles. Isang halimbawa ay ang salitang variable. Alam niyo ba na mahirap mag-isip na katumabas na Tagalog ng salitang ito? Pero sa Filipino ang salitang ito ay may katumbas na salitang "baryabol". Katulad ulit ng salitang journal. Sa Tagalog ang salitang ito ay may katumbas na "talaarawan" at pagdating naman sa Filipino ito ay may katumbas na "dyornal". Minsan pangit at nakakatawa pakinggan at basahin ang mga salitang ito. Kung ano ating maririnig na tunog ay ganoon din ang gagawing katumbas na tunog sa Filipino. Pero kung tutuusin ay mas maayos pa ito sa mga salitang text o yung salitang pinaikli para mapagkasya sa isang text.

So the USA Basketball Team debuted yesterday on their quest for gold against the host team CHINA. As we all know USA won destroying team China 101-70. Team USA played good defense orchestrating their full court press within the whole game. USA team next opponent will be Angola.

Remember what I've blogged about LBJ thinking of heading into the European League by 2010? This time it is Kobe Bryant's mind that is boggling about this trend. After several players left the NBA and signed on European teams, big names such as Lebron and Kobe popped-up on the said rumor. Let's just observe and it will be happening on a long period of time.

With the second day of the 2008 Olympics going on as different countries won their medals, the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games is a success. After a ginormous opening ceremony, thinking of the money that they had spent, it was just a big step towards history. After a span of three weeks, different countries will count their success. (hope that our Filipino delegates will win, Mabuhay kayong lahat!)

Basketball is one sport that is really advertised and is really followed especially by us Filipinos who are really basketball fanatics and enthusiasts. Many favored USA team to grab the gold. They have their point. But I am predicting that it will be a European team that will win the gold in basketball. Later in the evening, around 10:15 PM the game between CHINA and USA will be held. It will be a tough game.

First, Adamson Falcons won over UE Red Warriors, what an upset! Next, it was a game of contention. FEU defeated UST. I believe that if UST won over FEU, they will be a great contender for this UAAP season. FEU had its mastery of UST only in the eliminations (for the last several years) but I thought that FEU is the barometer of UST. If they can't beat FEU then they will not beat any other great teams like La Salle or Ateneo, or even Adamson who had an early upset. That game was a test for the Growling Tigers. I just hope that I will eat my words after this season.

There will be a NO PSP Policy in the UST Faculty of Engineering and it was effective yesterday. In this matter, I believe it is just a matter of responsibility for students. It is not right to play during class hours. Regarding playing during free time, I believe that it will be the students decision to do what he want because it is their time, whether they play their PSP, they study or they eat. Masyado na tayong ginagawang bata. At this stage of our lives, we should be independent. Alam na dapat natin ang tama sa mali. We should take resposibility of our actions.

It was Not Meant...

As what I’ve promised, I’ll tell you what happened in our first game against section 5C.

The 1st and 2nd quarter (1st half) was dominated by our team. We lead as much by thirteen (13) points. We are really pumped up. We showed hustle on every aspect of a basketball game. We scored, we rebounded, we passed and our offensive set was really smooth. We were not stagnant. Our defense was great. We made them missed their shots.

The 2nd half was a complete turn-around. We had a scoring drought by the third quarter. We only scored 2 points. And after the third canto, the score was even. It was all back to zero. By the last quarter, the calls of the referees were not on our side. It was a see-saw battle. It came all down on the dying seconds. As we lead by one, we committed a turnover. It was not a proper call. (in my perspective and others too) they had the possession and scored. With 8 seconds remaining, they lead by two. With the last possession in our hands, we had a smooth possession that lead to an open 3 point shot. We missed the shot. 0 second… We lose by 2 points.

Reflecting on the game, we were against last year’s campione. We forgot the saying never underestimate the heart of a champion. They showed poise and class at the dying seconds.

For the second time they beat us in our first game. Looking back last two years, we were up against them in our first game. We lose by 13 points. We had a depleted line-up. But it was just the first game. By semifinals of that same year, we beat them fair and square and that made us enter the championship. (we lose the best of three finals series 2-1) We were 2nd year that time and they were in their third.

Because we lose, someone blamed himself for missing a lay-up. Someone blamed himself for he felt there were wrong decisions during the game, the player rotations, and down the line plays and for lack of wisdom given to the players. Someone blamed himself for being foul troubled for the first three quarters yet he did not graduated from fouls. Someone blamed himself for turnovers he committed down the line. And someone blamed himself for missing the winning shot.

Still, it is not the quantity of wins you have but the quality. It is when you win. It is when we will win. We will never stop believing. We are still there. The first game is important but the next 4 games will be remarkable. We must win for our dreams to continue.

UST Growling Tigers won their game last Saturday against the UP Fighting Maroons. Magnolia Beverage Masters also beat their quarterfinals match-up Coca Cola Tigers.

Hence, we will also win our first game in our own NECES Sports Fest later this afternoon. I believe it will be done. I'll give you reports later.

So what’s with it? Mobile phones that are popping out of the market are all with a touch screen specification. Not with a stylus, no, but with the use of the human hand. Apple has its iPhone3G, HTC has its HTC Touch Diamond™ and Nokia will have its own. (it was just a rumor but now it is rumor no more) iPhone3G is not yet available here in the Philippines but the original iPhone is available. Its price ranges from Php18,000 to Php25,000. (iPhone3G costs $199.00 only in the US) HTC Touch Diamond™ is available for about Php40,000 to Php50,000. (I’m not sure of the figures with HTC) And the rumored Nokia Tube (as they called it) will be available on the first quarter of 2009. So if you have enough money. Buy. (parang simple hehehe)

Same old story, same old plot, same characters involved and I still believe that it will be going to have the same old ending, a championship. Again, the UST Growling Tigers lose its first game in the UAAP Season 71 Men’s Basketball. For several consecutive years, the UST Growling Tigers lose its first games of the tourney. The game was against the UE Red Warriors. Despite a monster game by reigning MVP Jervy Cruz, the Growling Tigers accepted its first defeat 78-73. Considering a great team effort on rebounds, UST shot poorly beyond the arc and commit many turnovers that caused the game in the dying seconds.

Refreshing our minds on what happened last UAAP Season 69, UST Growling Tigers lose to UP Fighting Maroons on its first game, yet they end up winning the Championship. Winning your first games in a tourney will really put a mark on other teams but with a long format like UAAP Men’s Basketball tourney (double round robin elimination), not only the first games will matter but mostly the game that is down the line. Ideally, a win is very important whether it is in the first or last part of the tourney. But if we will refresh our minds with what happened last season, UE Red Warriors swept the whole elimination but end up losing the championship. Every win counts but it is not the quantity but the quality. It is not about how many wins, it is about when you win it.

Fast Pace

Time goes on and on. As a student there is a simple, and sometimes complex, routine that you will follow. First is to wake up. Thank God for a new day. Eat breakfast. Some don’t. Do some hygienic work. Go to school, whatever class schedule you have. Learn new things from teachers and from books. Then you will bond with friends, bonding in a sense that you will study with them, play with them, or simply talk to them. After that you will go home. Whatever time you want to go home. Study your lessons. Some don’t. Prepare for a test if you have any. Hygienic works again. Pray to thank God for a stressful but wonderful day. Sleep and rest. Again for the following day, the routine will start again. For 9 months in a year it will be the routine and it will be fast.

You will never notice it. You will learn from experiences. You will also fail. And you will never notice it. As for this blog, it has a new theme. As for this blog, some post are boring and some are interesting. And as for this blog, it did not fail to entertain. It may not be a success for others but definitely it did not fail to entertain.

I’ve been busy the couple of days and these coming days, I’ll be busy again. Work in school, activities in orgs, and social bonding makes me busy, keeps me busy. But then I love what I do. I will also do this. I do not know what lies beyond. But I know it will be beyond. (Beyond of what?) Still, I do not know…

Wait for my next post because someone had requested to talk about love.

Why fight? Don't Ask. Just Fight!

There are times in our lives that we fail. We fail to succeed. We fail as if we have never failed in our lives yet we make this failure as an inspiration for us to keep in track with the path we are taking up.

Failing to prepare is preparing to fail. It is true. Sometimes we tend to forget the very basic structure of a complex one. We forget to look into simple details and just hop into the bigger one. We do these mistakes. And we do not learn. We are still committing the same mistakes over and over again. Yet why bother? If you know you can, then why fail? Why fight? Will you fight if you will just think that in the end you will lose? Then why fight? Why compete? Will it be essential to continue? What is the essence of competing? What is the essence of putting your heart on it? Is it losing? Is it failing? If it is then just give up. Do not try. Just give in. Don’t show pride. Don’t put heart. Don’t inject soul.

As what I have posted, just believe and it will happen. Hope and work at the same time and it will happen. Never stop believing and it will happen. Put it up there, and put it in the middle. Hope this inspires.

Aha, after 2 weeks of grueling Digital Signal Processing, Matlab® and PSpice running in my head (and I believe in my brain too, I think), a long weekend is at hand. Sunday, Monday, and then Tuesday! (Tuesday is Manila Day therefore no classes in Metro Manila, it is also the Birthday (June 24) of NECES MVP, Edwin Perey, Happy Birthday tol! Cheers! Mahaba-habang inuman ito…) Still there will be no time for rest. On Monday, I will have a staff General Assembly for NECES, then I still need to research for my Sociology class. I also have assignments that include Digital Electronics and PSpice. So it will still be a short vacation for me. Darn! Looking ahead on Saturday, it may be celebration time of X’s and Star’s Birthdays. (mahaba-haba talagang inuman to at kwentuhan)

Well, enough of all of these, enough of the Boston Celtics winning their 17^th title on the 17^th of June as all-time Celtic great #17 John Havlicek watched the game. Enough of the Sora Aoi torrents. Enough of the Sora Aoi video watching. Enough is enough!

Los Angeles Lakers Unveils New Basketball Jerseys

After losing to the Boston Celtics this year for the coveted NBA championship, the Los Angeles Lakers unveil their new jersey that will sport “Celtic Green and Hot Pink”.

According to team spokesperson John Black, "The new Lakers identity is our grand welcome to the Ronnie Turiaf era of Lakers basketball. We were inspired by the Boston Celtics green color as homage to all the luck they have been having, especially with the Kevin Garnett Trade. The Hot Pink was selected to accentuate Ronnie Turiaf's electric dance moves and cheering from the bench."

FYI: The 131-92 win by the Boston Celtics against the Los Angeles Lakers is the 2^nd largest margin in NBA Finals history. The 1^st was the 96-54 win by the Chicago Bulls against the Utah Jazz in 1998.

I have bumped into this article of PspFanboy and I thought that the people in Sony Europe realized this just now. Just now really?

"SCEE's David Reeves spoke at the DevStation developer conference last week, admitting to MCV that "there is a piracy problem on PSP." According to MCV, Reeves admits that piracy has fueled hardware sales, and of course "we are not happy about it." He told developers at the conference that Sony will "unveil new ways to combat piracy soon." But exactly how? We're not sure."

Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen all have their championship ring right now. For the Los Angeles Lakers, better luck next season. Shaquille O’Neal is the happiest man on earth right now. (if you know what I mean)

Global Warming is one topic that the whole world is concerned about but many people do not have the basic and proper knowledge about this. Basically, it is the increase in the average global temperature of the Earth’s surface. Many people are also not aware with this crisis. Mother Earth is suffering and when time goes on, we will suffer.

For people to be aware about Global Warming, documentaries were made. One is titled “An Inconvenient Truth” by Al Gore. Here in the Philippines, GMA Kapuso Station also made the documentary “SIGNOS”. These documentaries are made for people to be aware of Global Warming. Especially in our country, we are affected by Global Warming through climate change.

For people to be involved, an international activist group called Greenpeace was formed. I am an online activist of Greenpeace. For each month, they send a newsletter that you can spread all over the internet through emails and IMs for people to learn and be aware. I hope you also join this said organization.

Because we do not have enough power and authority to stop this, I will introduce to you Green Electronics. With this, we can be involved with interest. So what really is a green electronics product? These are the electronic gadgets/devices that were engineered by famous and known electronic companies and were studied by Greenpeace to check if the devices produce e-waste. It is Our Time!

Within two weeks time, the opening of the NECES (Network of Electronics and Communications Engineering Students) Sports Fest will be happening. This is a momentous event for our block’s basketball team. We will again represent Block EcE-A batch 2010.

For the past three years, our basketball team circled the wheel of luck even though the league’s MVP for two consecutive years was on our team. During our second year, we played for the championship but just lost and last year we ended up losing on the semifinals. This year we believe that we have the chance to bring home the bacon.

Our team is full of talent. We have our version of the Big Three. Our bench is deep. There are several role players in our team and there are also relievers. Combining all of these factors, I can say that we are a championship team yet we just need to hype up the game and be hungry of winning while taking it one game at a time.

I have so much passion in basketball but the other way around is a question. This is our time. We will settle for nothing less but a championship.

Never Stop Believing

These were the words uttered by a coach to his player. A bit cheesy but it struck me. I firmly believe that dreaming, believing, and hoping comes in the same manner as I typed it. Every human being has their own dreams. It becomes an abstract, a picture on your mind of what you want to happen. It will be your path, a sort of inspiration. As you follow this dream, it will make you believe that it will happen. Believing you CAN do it is followed by you WILL do it. It is just a matter of mindset. Putting your heart and mind on that dream will make your body work hard for it. It is a cliché of saying that if you want to do it, you will think of different ways just to attain it but if you do not want it then you will have reasons to avoid it. Now, the question is, after these, where will “hoping” falls? Hoping falls here when you did not achieved what you wanted to. We will just depend on time in order for our dreams to be fulfilled. (huwag tayong UMASA sa wala, ang kailangan ay MANIWALA tayo na kaya natin)

If all of us has this kind of mindset that we will firmly BELIEVE in ourselves and we will not just HOPE for something to happen, we will prosper for sure. And for those of you that can’t understand these simple things just think of these equations.

The whole world witnessed yet another thrilling game in the Best of 7 series of the NBA Finals. Game 5 went to the Los Angeles Lakers. As Kobe Bryant work doubly hard and his supporting cast helping him, they will still have another chance to even the series at Boston this coming Wednesday. (Tuesday in USA) As expected, it will be a tough game for both teams as the C’s try to take home their 17^th title and as the Lakers preventing it to happen.

I would like to mention what I’ve posted about the Lakers being a contender for next season. They will be a contender if Kobe will not jump to other NBA teams. As what have happened this season, there was an internal problem with the Lakers organization that involved Kobe Bryant. But what is important right now is the coveted NBA Championship as we all know, in the NBA, like what the advertisement said so, impossible is nothing.

Game 5 of the coveted NBA Championship will happen tomorrow June 16, Monday. (June 15 in the USA) Surely everybody thinks that the Boston Celtics will grab their 17th all in all NBA title. I am not a fan of Boston neither a fan of Los Angeles Lakers but I want Kevin Garnett to earn his championship ring that he truly deserves. (Bill Russell’s promise to KG) The whole world saw the big comeback of the C’s last game 4. Unfortunately, I was at school that time (we did not have our classes because the computer laboratory was not yet available) and I did not witness that incredible and that historic comeback. But because of SMS and friends who are able to watch the game, we knew the outcome and were surprised because the first half was dominated by The Lake Show.

In basketball, defense wins championships. That is true. Hunger is also taken into account. If you have watched the games and analyzed what happened, it was The C’s defense and it was KG’s passion in the game of basketball that made them have a 3-1 series lead. But we must not forget the Lakers. They have Kobe Bryant, one of the greatest players that have ever played this game. (I may not like Kobe but I accept the fact that he is good, damn good!) He carried Los Angeles to the finals and he still wants to prove that he can win championships without Shaquille O’Neal on his team.

If I’ll be in the shoes of the Celtic’s team, I will finish the series tomorrow and bring home the bacon to Boston. They should not be comfortable and they should stay aggressive because this series is not yet over. This is the last chance for the Boston Celtics. As what Kendrick Perkins and Rajon Rondo said, this may be the last chance that their big three, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett, grab the coveted NBA Championship. If they will win, I can say they truly deserve this championship. For the L.A. Lakers, they will still be a contender next season. They should just learn from their mistakes. Let us see what will happen tomorrow. The whole world is watching. Always remember, there can only be one.

It is quite ironic that my first post will fall on a very special event that is celebrated by the whole world. Today is Father’s Day. I would like to greet all Fathers around the globe a Happy Father’s Day.

Before creating this blog, I was thinking of what to write about. I thought of my interests but many bloggers post something about what they like. I don’t want to be like them. I want to be a unique blogger. (I think everybody wanted to be unique) So I was thinking of a ride-with-the-flow blogging meaning, I will post my “articlog” and “blogticle” (sounds ecchi as I am trying to combine blog and article in one term) in my own way, no-holds-barred. Topics may be anything or everything. This may not be the most intelligent blog but this will not fall on the most nonsense. What will I post may entertain you or may annoy you but then who cares? It is just me.

If you have the time, you can drop by each and every day. Read my posts and comment on my opinions. You can also commend topics that you want to be tackled.
